Always take into consideration the time of year you are planning to go away, as temperatures peak in July-August for a lot of holiday destinations. The last thing you want on a backpacking/adventure holiday is searing hot midday sun! The best time of year to go for these type of trips is either March/April or September where the days are warm and breezy, perfect to walk around in shorts and a t shirt but cool enough at night to get a decent nights sleep.
